Sec. 1.
Short title.
This Act may be cited as the Commemorative Medallions Act.

Sec. 5.
Issuance of commemorative medallions.
The State Treasurer may
issue medallions to commemorate popular contemporaneous events of Statewide
interest.
The
Treasurer shall select one or more vendors for the production, distribution,
marketing, and sale of the medallions. The Treasurer shall require that the
vendors share a percentage of the proceeds of the sale of the medallions with a
not-for-profit corporation organized under the General Not For Profit
Corporation Act of 1986 that is related to the public purpose for which the
medallions were issued.

Sec. 10.
Selection of events to be commemorated.
The General Assembly
shall select the
events to be commemorated by joint resolution adopted by the affirmative vote
of at least
three-fifths of the members elected to each house.
The State Treasurer may recommend a limit
of the number of series of medallions to be issued in a
calendar year by giving notice of the recommended limitation to the General
Assembly before
December 1 of the preceding calendar year.

Rules.
The State Treasurer may promulgate rules to implement
this Act.

Effective date.
