Sec. 1.

This Act shall be known and may be cited as the “Hazardous
Waste Technology Exchange Service Act”.

Sec. 2.

It is the purpose of this Act to stimulate and support
research, to provide training and to facilitate the flow of technical
information on source reduction and alternative technologies for hazardous
waste between industry and the research community. An interchange of
technical information between large and small businesses, independent
consultants and Illinois’ scientific community is an essential element of
the State’s policy to protect citizens from the dangers of hazardous
wastes and to encourage economic growth.

Sec. 3. For the purposes of this Act, unless the context otherwise requires:

(a) “Board” means the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois.

(b) “Center” means the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center
of the University of Illinois.

Sec. 4. Illinois Sustainable Technology Center. The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (formerly known as the Waste Management and Research Center) is transferred to the University of Illinois.

Sec. 6. Appropriations. For the purpose of maintaining the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, paying the expenses and providing the
facilities and structures incident thereto, appropriations shall be made to
the University of Illinois, payable from the Hazardous Waste Research Fund and other
funds in the State Treasury.
