Sec. 0.01.
Short title.
This Act may be cited as the
Wild or Scenic River Area Act.

Sec. 1.
The Director of the Department of Natural Resources on behalf of the
State of
Illinois is authorized to cooperate with appropriate federal agencies,
including but not limited to the Departments of Interior and Agriculture,
in accordance with the provisions of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, in the
consideration and development of a comprehensive statewide outdoor
recreation plan or proposal for financing assistance, pursuant to the Land
and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 (78 STAT. 897), needs and
opportunities for establishing State, interstate and local wild and scenic
river areas, and accept technical assistance and advice with respect to
establishing such wild or scenic river areas in accordance with the Act of
May 28, 1963 (77 STAT. 49).

Sec. 2.
The Department of Natural Resources is
authorized to accept funds directly
from the Congress or from agencies of the Federal Government which may make
funds available, either through appropriation or otherwise, for acquisition
of land in connection with the development and establishment of wild or
scenic river areas under the Water and Conservation Fund Act, the Act of
May 28, 1963 or other Act of Congress.
