Sec. 0.01.
Short title.
This Act may be cited as the
Senior Citizens on State Boards and Commissions Act.

Sec. 1.

It is hereby found and determined by the General Assembly that
state boards and commissions exist for the singular purpose of protecting
the public health and welfare; that citizens over 60 years of age represent
a significant percentage of the population and have the time and experience
to devote to the important issues which have a profound effect on the daily
lives of older Illinoisans.

It is also hereby found that senior citizens shall hold their positions
on boards and commissions by matter of right, not discretion. These
positions shall be held by consumer representatives over the age of 60 who
shall serve as spokespersons for the interests of the State’s older population.
