  1. In the case of a professional engineer, the certificate of registration shall authorize the practice of professional engineering. In the case of a professional land surveyor, the license shall authorize the practice of land surveying. In the case of a registered professional structural engineer, the certificate of registration shall authorize the practice of structural engineering. A certificate of registration or license shall show the full name of the registrant or licensee, shall have a serial number, and shall be signed by the chairperson of the board and the executive director under the seal of the board.
  2. The issuance of a certificate of registration or license by the board shall be evidence that the individual named therein is entitled to all the rights and privileges of a professional engineer or a professional land surveyor, as the case may be, as long as the certificate or license remains unrevoked, unexpired, or unaffected by other discipline imposed by the board.

The 2018 amendment, effective July 1, 2018, inserted “or license” throughout this Code section, deleted “registered” preceding “professional engineer” near the beginning of the first sentence of subsection (a) and once in subsection (b); in subsection (a), substituted “professional land surveyor, the license” for “registered land surveyor, the certificate of registration” in the second sentence and inserted “or licensee” in the third sentence; and substituted “individual” for “person” and substituted “professional land surveyor” for “registered land surveyor” in the middle of subsection (b).

The 2020 amendment, effective January 1, 2021, in subsection (a), added the third sentence and substituted “chairperson” for “chairman” in the fourth sentence.

The 2022 amendment, effective May 9, 2022, substituted “the executive director” for “the division director” near the end of subsection (a).
