  • (a) The Board shall issue a license to operate a barbershop or a beauty shop or to practice barbering, beauty culture, or manicuring as the case may be, and shall issue a certificate of registration as an apprentice, to every person who meets the requirements of this chapter. Each license and certificate of registration shall bear the seal of the Board and the signature of the Chairman of the Board.

  • (b) Each license and certificate shall be renewed annually before January 31.

  • (c) The following schedule of fees shall be charged and collected by the Board and covered into the General Fund of the Treasury of the Virgin Islands:

    • (1) For the first examination for a barber’s, beautician’s or manicurist’s license a fee of $20; for any re-examination an additional fee of $5.00.

    • (2) For the issuance of renewal of a barber’s, beautician’s, or manicurist’s license a fee of $20.00.

    • (3) For the issuance or renewal of a certificate of registration of an apprentice a fee of $5.00.

    • (4) For the initial issuance of a license for a barbershop or a beauty shop a fee of $50.

    • (5) For the renewal of a license for a barbershop or a beauty shop a fee of $60.00.

  • (d) The Board may issue a temporary license to any person who meets all the requirements of this chapter except the provisions of section 454(3) upon proper application and payment of one-quarter of the required license fee. A temporary license shall expire three months after the date of issuance and such temporary licensee shall not be entitled to any further license until he has qualified for a regular license under the provisions of this chapter. The Board may, however, in its discretion, for good cause shown, extend the term of such temporary license for an additional period not exceeding three months upon the payment of an additional fee equivalent to one-half of the required license fee.
