  • Any person who—
    • (1) is a common carrier, or, at the request of the owner or lawful possessor of any personal property, carries, conveys, or transports the same from one place to another; or

    • (2) safely keeps or stores any grain, wares, merchandise, or personal property at the request of the owner or lawful possessor thereof; or

    • (3) pastures or feeds any horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, or other livestock, or bestows any labor, care, or attention upon the same at the request of the owner or lawful possessor thereof—

      shall have a lien upon such property for his just and reasonable charges for the labor, care, and attention he has bestowed and the food he has furnished, and he may retain possession of such property until such charges are paid. The foregoing shall not apply in any transaction governed by the provisions of Article 7 of Title 11A.
