Section 8-601 – Liabilities of Trust, Shareholders, and Trustees

    (a)    The liability of a real estate investment trust extends to as much of the trust estate, including the whole, as necessary to discharge the liability.     (b)    A shareholder or trustee of a real estate investment trust shall have the immunity from liability described under § 5-419 of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article.

Section 8-601.1 – Applicability of Certain Title 2 Provisions

    Sections 2–113, 2–201(c), 2–309(a) and (e), 2–313, 2–502(e), 2–503(b), and 2–504(f) of this article and, except as otherwise provided in § 8–601 of this subtitle or in the declaration of trust, § 2–405.1 of this article shall apply to real estate investment trusts.

Section 8-602 – Service of Process

    In an action against a real estate investment trust doing business in the State, process shall be served on any officer or resident agent of the real estate investment trust.
