Section 11-222 – Penalties

    Any person who violates any provision of § 11–203.1(a) of this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 3 years or both.

Section 11-223 – Short Titles

    (a)    This subtitle may be cited as the Maryland Consumer Loan Law – Licensing Provisions.     (b)    This subtitle and the Maryland Consumer Loan Law – Credit Provisions may be cited jointly as the Maryland Consumer Loan Law.

Section 11-202 – Scope of Subtitle

    (a)    The Maryland Consumer Loan Law does not change any powers conferred by law on any person who is not required or permitted to be licensed under this subtitle.     (b)    The Commissioner may not license any bank, trust company, savings bank, credit union, or savings and loan association.
