Section 13-605 – Results of Hearing Screening of Newborns to Be Included in Birth Event Information
(a) As part of the supplemental information required to be submitted to the Department as part of the birth event, a hospital shall include the results of the hearing screening of the newborn. (b) The Department may adopt regulations for results reporting procedures for hospitals, birthing sites, and audiologists.
Section 13-602 – Establishment of Program
(a) The Secretary shall establish a program for the universal hearing screening of newborns and early identification and follow–up of newborns and infants who have, or who are at risk for developing, a permanent hearing status that affects speech–language skills. (b) The program shall be based on the model system developed by the Department.
Section 13-603 – Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Advisory Council
(a) There is an Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Advisory Council for the Program. (b) (1) The Advisory Council consists of 12 members appointed by the Secretary.
