The magistrate courts shall operate under the direction and control of the supreme court and the district court of the judicial district in which the court is located. The district court shall provide administrative support to the magistrate courts, under the supervision of the supreme court.

ANNOTATIONS

Repeals and reenactments. — Laws 1997, ch. 53, § 1 repealed 35-7-1 NMSA 1978, as enacted by Laws 1968, ch. 62, § 96, and enacted a new section, effective July 1, 1997.

The 2021 amendment, effective June 18, 2021, transferred duties of the administrative office of the courts to individual judicial districts; in the section heading, after “supreme court”, added “and the district court in the judicial district in which the court is located”; in the first sentence, after “control of the supreme court”, added “and the district court of the judicial district in which the court is located”; and in the second sentence, deleted “director of the administrative office of the courts” and added “district court”.
