NRS 284.307 – Automatic advancement of person in training or preparatory position.

An employee who holds a position classified as a training or preparatory position may advance automatically to a position having a higher classification after the employee meets the minimum qualifications for the higher classification and receives the recommendation of the appointing authority for that advancement. NRS 284.309 – Waiver of examination if fewer than five qualified applicants.

If a competitive examination is required for a vacancy and fewer than five qualified applicants respond after extensive efforts at recruitment, the examination may be waived and the Administrator may submit the applications of the qualified applicants without certification to the appointing authority for selection.
